Model overview

Fareast SV14

Designed by Simonis Voogd and built by Fareast, the SV14 combines a stable lifting-keel platform, twin rudders and supportive seating with the direct response expected from a sports keelboat. It is intended to bring more sailors into the same training, recreational and racing environment rather than separating adaptive sailing from the wider sport.

Key Features

  • Adaptive capability integrated into the original boat design
  • Two-person layout for instruction, teamwork and racing
  • Lifting T-keel and twin rudders for stability and steering control
  • Quick-release GRP seats with an optional powered tilting system
  • Standard Dacron sail plan with optional asymmetric and racing packages

Model details

Design & Construction

Designed for more sailors

The seating, stability, controls and hull were developed as one platform. Sailors who benefit from additional support can use the adaptive features, while sailors who do not require them still receive a responsive sports keelboat.

Stability and control

The 1.59 m beam, low centre of gravity, 1.20 m lifting T-keel and twin rudders create a stable platform while preserving steering feedback as the boat heels.

Adaptive seating

Two purpose-designed GRP bucket seats are standard. Quick-release mountings support adjustment, removal and maintenance, while an optional aluminium tilting frame with a 24V actuator can change the seat angle for sailors with reduced mobility.

Composite construction

The hull and deck use vacuum-infused PVC foam sandwich construction with E-glass and isophthalic resin. The keel fin and rudder blades receive selective carbon reinforcement, and six flotation compartments add reserve buoyancy.

Sail plan and progression

The standard Dacron mainsail and jib support training and recreational sailing. An optional asymmetric spinnaker and racing sail packages allow crews to progress into faster downwind sailing and competition.
